Somewhere in there was a brief recommendation to set custom usage templates. having been playing with OLE since ATA33 was considered fast, yet I found myself latching on to key points as I browsed thru' the 8 chapters. I don't consider myself to be entry-level. Heavy-gang job to download if you don't have an ADSL connection, and probably considered a little patronising by seasoned exponents of Off-Line editing, but quite rightly directed at entry-level users, I think. I made a comment to Trevor about the VS9 Tutorial Videos. as discussed in other threads in this Forum.

This improved greatly by adding a Serial RAID0 stripe to the PC interface as the capture drive. I have also tried capturing AV directly to mpeg2 with some success, but occasionally had dropped-frame problems. and of course make sure that these settings are reflected right through the process from Capture Module to Share Module. I do capture DV as well, and so modify the settings in File/Project Properties accordingly. I selected for AV capture, because I have been and still am converting a large number of Hi8 tapes to SVCD and DVD. Since then VS9 opens a new project with Normal giving this profile. ostensibly NTSC instead of my PAL requirement, I decided to use Edit to change the template.

That must be an issue for the Ulead Technical Support group, I guess.? The Normal template was visible to me in Tools/Make Movie Manager from the beginning, and as VS9 was defaulting to settings I did not want. It seems particularly odd that some systems displayed the templates and some did not. I have not been using VS9 as long as some of you guys, and was not aware that there was this mystery surrounding the visibility of the generic Normal project template. This way, I have never experienced a Ulead product defaulting back to NTSC.

But this time - and I must say, for every subsequent install of every Ulead product that I use (MF 3/4, DVD Workshop 1.5 and 2, Cool 3d and Production Studio, and Media Studio Pro 6.5 and 7) - I first choose the Country option in the install process (which sets Australia and PAL), but I ALSO then click on the 'set TV system' option and choose PAL. I immediately did an uninstall and then reinstalled the program.

Re the NTSC/PAL business, I first experienced this on my first load of the full version of VS7 just after it was released. And in any case, the templates were obviously there somewhere (though I have never got them to show), since the program worked fine even before I made my own custom templates. I have in any case made my own templates, which appear. When VS9 was first released, there was a minor discussion here between people who could see the templates in Make Movie Manager and those who could not. Make sure you check the Pal option and country location during installation.Īs for camera connection, can you start a new post giving more details.Īt the present I have no suggestions but a new post should generate further responses from other users.īut when I switch my camera via Firewire I get an Imaging Device added to the Device Manager, irrespective of Video Studio, suggesting the problem is the pc rather than VS.

If that does not work it may be best to reinstall the program,

If yes change the settings to match the ones shown earlier. Select ‘custom’ / ‘options / compression tab / media type / Pal Dvd. When you have finished editing your slide show, go to share create video file.

I eventually upgraded to the full version, which at the moment is working fine. The trial version is not one of the best programs.
